Social Chameleons - What's in a Name?

You might think a "Chameleon" may not be the best animal for a blog title... what with it's ability to change it's color and the tiny size of the thing, but that's exactly why I chose it.

Wikipedia defines a chameleon as a "distinctive and highly specialized" breed of lizard, they vary greatly in size and structure, and seem to inhabit most (albeit warm) places on a few continents.

My connection to this, aside from always wanting one as a kid, is it reminds me of today's 20 somethings in a number of areas. We are slaves to the social media explosion and most of us are loving every minute of it, and we are distinctive and highly specialized. Twenty-somethings, or Gen Y, or Millenials, or whatever you want to call anyone between the ages of 18 and 30 in 2010 are redefining the world in which EVERYONE lives in with things like Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn. Sure, Myspace and Blogging have always been around, but those were stepping stones to where we find ourselves in this new decade.

The purpose here, is that I have just spent 2.5 years living abroad in Seoul, South Korea. I graduated from Syracuse University in 2004, worked in entertainment, and am now currently job searching. What I am finding is that life has changed dramatically even in 5 years and it is fascinating. I'll be blogging about the search for now, my thoughts on life as I see it, and once I do become gainfully employed, I'll be blogging about trials and tribulations of the industry (though probably NOT the particular company - really - people get fired for things like that).
